* 5 Operations or Sorties
* 1 Sortie if man was wounded

This badge was worn on the
left breast pocket.

Note its construction:
The eagle is riveted to wreath

There is a corresponding PILOT's BADGE
The tail of the eagle does not touch wreath
and the wings are more spread.
The PILOT's BADGE had a black
eagle swastika.

Before both the
PILOT's & OBSERVER's BADGES:
There was a combined badge that
was like the Pilot's Badge except
the wreath is gilt and eagle & swastika
were silver
