Marking (as stated by Smith's Doorstop Book) :
TAYLOR MILFORD, CT
NOTE 1: -- (The Reason there is Controversy about being "Antique")
This Doorstop is pictured and documented in John Smith's Doorstop Book.
His book states the marking on the back is -- TAYLOR, MILFORD, CT
The "Original United States' Abbreviation" for Connecticut was CONN.
In 1963, the Untied States adapted a new Standard that used only
2 Letters to identify an individual state.
If John Smith's Description is correct, this was made after 1963, because CT
is used instead of CONN
This website's desire is to illustrate "Pre- 1948" Cast Iron Doorstops.
1948 was the year that signaled the demise for the last great American foundry - Hubley
and the year John Wright bought Hubley's Molds and started making reproductions.
This Doorstop is not shown or documented in Bertoia Book on Doorstops.
