Albany is the Capital of New York, the Empire State. The city of Albany traces its roots to the voyage of an English explorer, Henry Hudson. Henry Hudson was sponsored by the Dutch East India Company in 1609.

The Albany Foundry began in 1897 after the Civil War. From 1900-1903, they were manufacturers & dealers of stoves. Then, the Albany Foundry expanded their product line to include other Cast Iron Items:

        DOORSTOPS
        DOORKNOCKERS
        CANDLE SCONCES
        CANDLE STICKS
        ANDIRONS
They published catalogs and took orders for the above.
You could order Doorstops --- Painted or Unpainted
In their 1926 Catalog, they gave precise instructions on         " How to Paint a Iron Casting "

They would also make castings per your sketch or model. When in 1932, the Island of VanRensselaer was incorported into thr Port of Albany, the Albany Foundry closed.
