the CONNECTICUT FOUNDRY

When a huge foundry building burned down in 1918, A. O. Knudsen, Arthur Enquist and Ernest Spencer built the present building in 1919 and established the Connecticut Foundry. The Foundry buildings still stands, in dilapidated condition and is on the demo list. The company made a wide variety of items of cast iron: oil burners, piston-ring moldings, lawn mower parts, bookends and decorative plaques. The Connecticut Foundry was known for their Bookends. But in the 1929's they also made several nice doorstops. They company closed their doors in the early 1970's.

MARKING STYLE -- Style had 4 parts :

Connecticut's Mark

1. Their Logo was a C inside a traingle enclosed in a circle.


2. On THE left side "CORP"

3. On its right side, the date: "1929"

4. And sometimes the Doorstop Name underneath the above 3 markings
