When a huge foundry building burned down in 1918, A. O. Knudsen, Arthur Enquist and Ernest Spencer built the present building in 1919 and established the Connecticut Foundry. The Foundry buildings still stands, in dilapidated condition and is on the demo list. The company made a wide variety of items of cast iron: oil burners, piston-ring moldings, lawn mower parts, bookends and decorative plaques. The Connecticut Foundry was known for their Bookends. But in the 1929's they also made several nice doorstops. They company closed their doors in the early 1970's.
